Every Child Matters - "Reunited" (two bear design)

I am part of the 60s Scoop, I was adopted into a non-Indigenous family as a newborn.

I met my birth father/Dad in 1994 and my birth Mom in 2012.

This design is dedicated to my dear Mom who started her Journey with our Ancestors in August 2021. This is her and I meeting for the first time in July 2012 in Lillooet.

Every Child Matters - "Ancestors with us" (city/eagle design)

I am part of the 60's Scoop, my dear Mom gave me up for adoption so that I would not have to attend the Kamloops Indian Residential School (KIRS).

She came down to Vancouver to give birth to me, I was adopted as a newborn.

Over the years, I faced many difficult challenges and I wondered, how did I make it through. I've come to realize that even though I didn't grow up in my Community or with my Family, my Ancestors were always with me.

My design shows my Mom and I in Vancouver when I was born, the eagle, placed over "child" represents our Ancestors who are always watching over us.

This design also represents any parent who had to see their child/ren off to residential school, taken during the 60's Scoop or today where Indigenous children make up a large percentage in foster care.

Our Ancestors are always with us.
